Brentwood junior Dean Kueppelberg's grandfather Ronny Branam passed away Monday. The 152-pound Klueppelberg chose to stay with his team and wrestle against visiting Centennial Tuesday in a crucial District 14-AAA dual.
"I really thought it was what he would have wanted me to do," Klueppelberg said. "It means a lot to me for the team to come together and dedicate this match to him.
"I just really feel like he's proud up there."
Brentwood battled to a 38-32 win and earned the right to host the district duals next week.
"Tonight was all about Dean Kueppelberg's grandfather," Brentwood coach Damon Smith said. "I felt like that really propelled us to our victory."
