Brentwood girls advance in NXT LVL tourney

Amelia Osgood and the Brentwood High School girls basketball team kicked off the NXT LVL tournament at Christ Presbyterian Academy with a win over Livingston Academy on Monday at Christ Presbyterian Academy.Osgood knocked down four 3-pointers and closed with 21 points to lead all scorers. The Lady Bruins will face CPA Tuesday in the semifinals.

Beech defeated Clarksville Christian 50-21 in the second game prior to Brentwood's win, while the Brentwood Academy girls clipped Clarksville Academy 69-55 in the tournament opener Monday morning. Trinity Fields led four Lady Eagles in double figures with 17 to lead BA. 

Sydney Ryan added 11 points for the Lady Bruins Monday, while post Sophie Roston chipped in 10 more. 

Brentwood built an early 29-10 lead by the half before absorbing a third-quarter run by Livingston Academy. Keaton Webb paced the Lady Wildcats by scoring 10 of her team-best 16 in the third. 

Osgood netted eight out of the break as well as the two shooters traded 3-pointers. Triples from Kate Workman, Ryan and Lila Quesonberry helped keep the Lady Bruins in front by double digits down the stretch.

Brentwood will play at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday against the host Lady Lions at CPA, while the BA girls face Beech prior at noon.

The CPA girls used a balanced attack to defeat Fairview in the late game Monday with Virginia Glisson's 14 leading the way. Four other Lady Lions scored at least seven in a 59-40 win. 

Fairview will play Livingston Academy at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday for a shot at the third-place contest. 

The tournament finals are scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
